Description

Football club "Lokomotiv" was founded on July 23, 1922. On this day, the team of the Moscow-Kazan Railway "Kazanka" played its first match, defeating the Izmailovsky Sports Club with a score of 7:0. "Kazanka" and the Club of the October Revolution (KOR), which dates back to 1923, are the predecessors of Lokomotiv. The team received its current name on January 12, 1936.

«Lokomotiv» - one of the most titled clubs in Russia. During the Soviet period, the club was on the path of formation. In 1936, the team won the first ever USSR Cup, repeating the achievement in 1957, and in the 1959 season they reached the silver medals of the national championship for the first time.

For many years, "Lokomotiv" is one of the flagships of Russian football. The club won the championship title twice (2002, 2004), won the Russian Cup seven times (seasons 1995/96, 1996/97, 1999/00, 2000/01, 2006/07, 2014/2015, 2016/2017). Several times the red-greens were among the championship winners: four times “Loko” won silver medals five more times – bronze. Twice "Lokomotiv" won the country's Super Cup (2003, 2005). The team's highest achievement in European tournaments is reaching the semi-finals of the Cup Winners' Cup (1997/98, 1998/99).

The club has a unique infrastructure. The RZD Arena stadium, where the railway workers hold their home matches, is located in the Cherkizovo district in the Eastern District of Moscow. This modern stadium provides fans with comfortable conditions for watching matches and convenient transport links.
