Description
VEB Arena, located in the Khoroshevsky district of the Northern Administrative Okrug of Moscow, is a modern football stadium, which is the home arena of the CSKA football club. Construction of the facility began in May 2007 on the site of the old CSKA stadium and was completed nine years later. The official opening took place on August 23, 2016, and the total cost of the project was 350 million US dollars. The stadium's architects are Dmitry Bush and Andrey Bokov.
The stadium has a significant capacity, which is confirmed by the record attendance at the Europa League match between CSKA and London's Arsenal, when 29,284 people were present in the stands. As part of the Russian Championship, the attendance record was recorded on September 23, 2018, at the Moscow derby between CSKA and Spartak, which was attended by 29,361 spectators.
The convenient location of VEB Arena ensures accessibility for spectators. The nearest metro stations are Sokol, Polezhaevskaya, Khoroshevskaya and CSKA, as well as the MCC station Zorge.
The VEB Arena also hosts matches of the Russian national team. Thus, on June 9, 2017, a match with the Chilean team took place, which ended in a 1:1 draw. On October 7, 2017, the Russian team won against South Korea with a score of 4:2, and on June 5, 2018, the match against Turkey ended in a 1:1 draw.
