Football Club Spartak is a historic team from Kostroma, Russia. It was founded in 1959 and has been active in master team competitions ever since. From 1960 to 2018, Spartak took part in these competitions, demonstrating its footballing prowess.

During the 2017/18 season, the team faced financial difficulties, which led to the loss of its professional status. However, in the 2022/23 season, Spartak received a license to participate in the Second League, which allowed it to return to professional football.

Over the years of its existence, the Spartak team has demonstrated various results. Between 1960 and 1970, the team played in Class B of the USSR Championship, playing many matches and reaching second place in its zone in several seasons. Between 1971 and 1991, the team played in the Second League of the USSR Championship, where they achieved various results, including first place in 1973 and 1980.

In 1981 and 1982, the team played in the First League, where they showed stability and achieved their best result - 12th place in 1981. In the 2022/23 season, the team was given the opportunity to play in the Second League and be based in Moscow, although they play their home games at the Urozhai stadium in the village of Karavaevo in the Kostroma District.

There have also been changes in the club's management, and at the beginning of 2023, Ilya Stanislavsky became the new general director, and Alexey Koryakov became his deputy. The team continues its history and strives to achieve success in professional football.
