Description

FC Baltika Kaliningrad

Activity: sportsman

Football club Baltika from Kaliningrad is a team with a rich history and many achievements. It was founded in 1954 under the name "Pishchevik" and a few years later received its current name - "Baltika".

In the last century, thanks to coach Korney Sperling, the team achieved significant success. It became the leader of the First League and even won it, showing an excellent game and leaving its rivals far behind. For three seasons in a row, Baltika played in the Higher League.

The team also has an achievement in the Intertoto Cup, where they reached the 3rd round. However, in 1997, the team encountered difficulties and left the elite of Russian football.

In the next 10 years, Baltika failed to achieve significant results. A weak team composition, constant changes of head coach and limited funding did not allow the team to consistently perform at a high level. They either fell to the bottom of the tournament table or returned to the first division.

In the early 2010s, the team also suffered from financial problems, which prevented them from reaching the Premier League. However, despite all the difficulties, Baltika managed to maintain its place in the FNL in the 2014/15 season. In the following years, the team was on the verge of relegation from the FNL, but now occupies 16th place in the table.
