Description
The Rotor football club, founded in 1929 on the basis of a local tractor plant, is one of the most historically significant clubs in Russia. From the very beginning of its existence, the team showed its strength and ambitions, making its debut in the USSR Cup. In 1939, Rotor took fourth place in the national championship, confirming his high quality of play. The club at that time was called “Traktor”.
In subsequent years, Rotor went through several difficult periods, spending most of its time in the second league and changing its name. However, since 1975, the team received its permanent name - “Rotor”, by which it is known to this day. Despite financial difficulties and changes in the coaching staff, Rotor continued to achieve success.
In 2004, the team temporarily left the major league due to financial problems and problems with the roster. However, in 2006, Rotor was revived and spent several seasons in the second division. In 2009, the club faced serious financial difficulties, which led to the loss of professional status. But thanks to the support of the sponsor, the team was able to return to the second division of the “South” zone.
In the 2016/17 season, Rotor took first place in the second division of the “South” zone, which allowed him to return to the FNL. And in the 2019/20 season, the team took first place in the FNL and, after 16 years, returned to the Premier League.
Rotor Football Club is a team that has an impressive history and achievements. She twice became the silver medalist of the Russian Championship, was a bronze medalist, and a finalist in the Russian Cup and Intertoto Cup. Rotor also won the second division of the “South” zone twice and became the winner of the FNL championship.
