FC Arsenal (Tula)

FC Arsenal (Tula) is a professional football club with a rich and eventful history dating back to the mid-20s of the last century. Founded at the Tula Arms Plant, the club has come a long way from an amateur team to one of the leading participants in the Russian football championship.

Since 1946, the team participated in the USSR Championship under the name “Zenit” (Tula), and in 1958 it became a city team not associated with the plant. During its history, the club changed its name several times, depending on sponsors, but in 1989 it returned to its historical name - Arsenal. In 1990, the club received professional status, but in 2004, after the cessation of financial support from Gazprom, Arsenal was forced to play in the third division.

In 2011, thanks to the efforts of Dmitry Alenichev, the club regained its professional status and began climbing the football ladder. In the 2019/2020 season, despite a series of defeats and the threat of relegation, the team took 8th place in the Russian Championship. This result became possible thanks to the skillful leadership of Sergei Podpaly, who rallied the team and determined the winning tactics of the game.
