On June 6, the long-awaited match between the Russian national team and the Nigerian team will take place at the Luzhniki stadium.
After the match in Moscow, the Russian team will go to Minsk, and in October, a game with Iran is planned. In November, meetings with Uruguay and Indonesia are expected - negotiations are still ongoing, but the match calendar for 2025 already promises to be eventful and prestigious.
Since February 2022, after the suspension of the Russian team by FIFA and UEFA from international competitions, our team has only played friendly matches. These games are of increasing interest among fans, especially when the opponent is such a strong team as Nigeria.
In March of this year, Russia defeated Grenada and Zambia with the same score of 5:0. However, the meeting with Emile Schell's team attracts special attention. The new Nigerian coach quickly found a common language with the players, which allowed the team to become significantly stronger.
Nigeria recently won 2-0 against Rwanda in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, and also drew 1-1 with Zimbabwe. Last year, the Nigerians confidently reached the final of the African Cup of Nations, losing only to the tournament host, Côte d'Ivoire, with a score of 1-2. The African team is known for its creative approach to the game and the ability of each player to take the initiative. The Russian team, led by Valery Karpin, adheres to strict tactical guidelines, which may become our weak point against the energetic Nigerians.
The match promises to be spectacular thanks to the excellent physical shape of the Nigerian players. Tickets for the game are still available for purchase both online and at the stadium box office - it will only take a few minutes of your time. Don't miss your chance to witness this exciting football event!
