The match Azerbaijan - Sweden, UEFA Nations League will be held in Baku on September 5
One of the most interesting first matches promises to be the meeting between the national team of Azerbaijan and Sweden. The national teams of Azerbaijan and Sweden were assigned to Group 1 of League C. Traditionally, not the strongest teams get into this League. However, this does not mean that the games of this League and group do not arouse the interest of fans. There is a lot of excitement around the upcoming meeting of two such different, but equally interesting teams.
Azerbaijan, according to FIFA, is in 112th place, according to the same rating, Sweden – on 27, therefore the Swedes, of course, are the clear favorites of the upcoming game. At the moment, Fernando Santos' team already has several unexpected victories in their arsenal – in 2001, beating the Slovaks, and in 2003, playing with Serbia and Montenegro, first in a draw, and then winning with a score of 2:1. In addition, at the moment there are many expensive and truly strong football players in the national team. Forward of the Turkish club "Hatayspor" Renat Dadashov is the most expensive player in the Azerbaijani national team. Captain of the Azerbaijani national team and Baku “Neftchi” Emin Makhmudov scored a double against the Swedish national team as part of the qualification for EURO 2024. The strongest assets in the Azerbaijani team are also Ramil Sheydayev and Mahir Emreli. It is impossible not to mention another Azerbaijani star – this is the son of the head coach of Agdam “Qarabag” Gurbana Gurbanova and the forward of the Swedish “Djurgården” Musa Gurbanli.
The most expensive and powerful players in Sweden are Albin Ekdahl, Sam Larsson, Pontus Jansson, Robin Olsen, Alexander Isak, Robin Quaison, Ludwig Augustinsson, Viktor Claesson, Emil Forsberg, and, of course, central defender Victor Lindelof. The Swedish national team always has a hard time playing away, so in the upcoming game the Azerbaijani national team will be helped by the home field and stands of the home stadium.
Azerbaijan and Sweden will play on September 5 as part of the 1st round of the Nations League at the stadium named after. Tofika Bakhramova (Baku, Azerbaijan)
