Description

"Allianz Arena" in Munich is one of the main attractions and also the stadium of the Bayern Munich soccer team. It seats up to 75,000 spectators, including business seats, VIP boxes and seats for disabled people with strollers.

Few people know that the decision to build the Allianz Arena was made as a result of a referendum held on October 21, 2001. The majority of those polled were in favor of building a new stadium that would be home to Bayern Munich and Munich 1860. The stadium also had to meet all the requirements for hosting official matches of the World and European Championships. To select the most interesting project, a competition was organized with the participation of leading architectural firms. The winner was the Swiss architectural firm "Herzog & de Meuron Architekten", which presented a project of a stadium similar to "St. Jakob Park" in Basel - a stadium with a transparent shell made of a special film. This film, consisting of many cushions, could be illuminated from the inside, which was one of the main features of the Allianz Arena, and it also required little maintenance. Construction began in the fall of 2002, and the foundation was laid on October 21. At the end of April 2005, construction was completed.

"Allianz Arena" is not only a stadium, but also a huge complex, including a kindergarten and the "world" of the popular Lego constructor. Also on the territory of the arena there is an 800 square meter store where every Bayern fan can buy symbols and souvenirs.
