Description

The Volksparkstadion, located in the Bahrenfeld district in the west of Hamburg, is a modern sports complex that meets the highest UEFA category 4 standards. With a capacity of 57,000 spectators for domestic matches and 51,500 for international matches, it is the home stadium of FC Hamburger SV. Built on the site of the old Stadt Arena according to the plans of architect Gustav Elsner and opened on 30 April 1998, the stadium is known for its history and many names, including the AOL Arena, HSH Nordbank Arena and Imtech Arena.

The Volksparkstadion was previously part of the prestigious UEFA Five-Star Stadiums and hosted the first Europa League final in 2010. In addition to football matches, the stadium also hosts cultural and public events of international significance. It has hosted iconic events such as the 2011 IBF, WBO and WBA title fights and concerts by legendary artists such as Michael Jackson, Depeche Mode, Tina Turner and AC/DC.
